Victor Valdes' agent has offered the goalkeeper to Real Madrid
Victor Valdes, who has been left out of Manchester United's squad for their pre-season tour, could return to the Spanish league... with Real Madrid.
The player's agent, Gines Carvajal, has a close relationship with Madrid president Florentino Perez and knows that the club are in a tricky situation following the departure of Iker Casillas to Porto. Therefore, he has offered them the chance to sign Valdes.
Madrid, who are also negotiating with Espanyol for Kiko Casilla, are interested in signing David de Gea from United, but talks with the Premier League side have not gone to plan so far. Man United are asking for around 25 million euros, which Madrid are not ready to play because the player's contract ends in 2016.
Carvajal's advice to Perez has been to sign De Gea on a free next summer and to bring in Valdes in the meantime.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper, 33, signed a contract with the Red Devils in January, tying him to the club until the summer of 2016. Sources close to the player, though, suggest there is a clause which would allow Valdes to leave.
His absence in the club's tour of the USA have re-opened doubts over his place in Louis van Gaal's plans. It could be that he has decided to leave United and that could mean a return to Spain, where Valencia are interested in his services as well.
After an injury to Diego Alves, Los Che are looking for a top level goalkeeper as they return to the Champions League. Valdes is one of the men they are looking at.
