Kiko Casilla is one step away from swapping Espanyol for Real Madrid

Kiko Casilla is one step away from signing for Real Madrid, although there is still no agreement in place between the two clubs. Espanyol are holding strong against pressure from Real Madrid, making sure they are not ripped off. Madrid have raised their first offer to five million euros, but Espanyol will not sell for less than six million and the loan of Marco Asensio

Casilla, though, has now taken the decision to sign for Madrid and hopes both clubs can reach a deal. He has agreed a five-year contract. Madrid's general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, has had various conversations with Espanyol president Joan Collet, but they have still not reached anything definitive.

Espanyol have now paid Madrid two million euros for Casilla since he joined the club in 2007 and considered Los Blancos's first offer of four million euros a lack of respect. Madrid realised their error and quickly raised their bid, although Espanyol are still holding out for more. Asensio is the only player they're interested in, although Madrid have tried to throw in Nacho on loan

Collet will be in Vall d'Aran on Saturday, where Espanyol are doing pre-season, and he will look to reach an agreement which suits all three parties involved. All that is missing in one million euros and the loan of a player Rafa Benitez has said can leave for the season.
