Davinson rejects Barça and signs for Ajax

The Colombian central defender Davinson Sanchez has signed his contract linking him with Dutch club Ajax for the next five seasons. It had been a deal which for weeks was far from being certain, with an offer coming in from Barcelona, with the stipulation that the player would appear for Barça B in his first season.

Davinson gave his opinion a few days ago, through his agent, when deciding against Barça's offer as he felt his future should not include any time spent with a club's B team. That paved the way for Ajax to complete the signing of the left-footed centre-back, for around five million euros.

The player has has his medical tests and then signed the contract documentation, before returning to his native Colombia to form part of their Olympic Squad for Rio. The deal also states that Davinson will complete the current Copa Libertadores campaign with Atletico Nacional before beginning his European career in Amsterdam.
