La Vanguardia: Deal struck between Barça and tax authorities in Neymar case

According to a report by La Vanguardia newspaper, an agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and the tax authorities, which would see the club fined around five million euros for errors made in the signing of Neymar.

The pact would exonerate current president Josep Maria Bartomeu and former president Sandro Rosell. The deal will be submitted to the board of directors today, and each director will vote on whether to acept the terms.

The tax authorities' legal team had been asking for prison terms of two years and three months for Bartomeu, and seven years and six months for Rosell.

Acceptance of the deal would avoid the need for a court case. The club would be the only accused party to receive punishment, though the fine, of between four and six million euros, would be greatly inferior to the figure originally sought by the authorities of 63 million euros.

Barça would thereby be admitting the error of not retaining the corresponding amount of tax from the transfer of the Brazilian from Santos.
