Unai Emery wants Deulofeu to wait for his chance at Sevilla

Sevilla boss Unai Emery says Gerard Deulofeu needs to be patient as he bids to break into the first team in Andalusia.

Deulofeu, 20, is spending the season on loan at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan from Barcelona, but he has so far only managed to accumulate 17 minutes for his new club.

Emery, aware of his undeniable talent, is in no rush to incorporate him, though.

"[Deulofeu] has grown in the best cantera in the world and he excelled in all of the categories," he said in a press conference ahead of Sevilla's Europa League match with Feyenoord on Thursday.

"But taking the next step is the most difficult.

"He needs to improve things; he is working well but he has to grow more.

"It's positive that he is really keen to play more, but he needs to be patient. There are a lot of games to come and there will be opportunities for all the players."

Deulofeu spent last season on loan at Everton and was expected to feature under Luis Enrique at Barça, but the Asturian instead decided his future would be better served on loan somewhere else.
