The reasons why Andre Gomes chose Barça over Real Madrid
Andre Gomes stated in his first press conference as a Barcelona player that joining the club was a dream come true, while also revealing why he chose to join the Blaugrana over Real Madrid.
The former Valencia player was clearly pleased with his decision to make the move to Catalonia, embracing his father - who presented an unusual gift to Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu during his son's unveiling - before stepping out onto the Mini Estadi pitch for his presentation.
"When Barça came to me I didn't have much to decide," Gomes said, "I chose the club because of my football philosophy, Barça is the best club for my growth and development as a player.
"My father was excited because he's been a Barça supporter for years and I knew he would be proud of me.
"It's an honour to wear this shirt as it's a dream fulfilled for myself and my family. I had to choose the best option and I was right, I'm happy to be here."
