Messi says he'd love the chance to meet Obama and his family

Argentina and Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has responded to Barack Obama's comments that his children would like to meet him

After the game against Chile, talking to TyC Sports, Messi said he was grateful for the words from the president of the United States.

"Obviously, I was surprised that he said that, but on the contrary, for me it would be completely the opposite," he said.

"For me it would be a source of great pride to be able to meet him and his daughters, but obviously I know it would be complicated.

"I don't know whether it is possible. Maybe he made the comment because he was in Argentina, but I can say I was as surprised as everyone else."

In a more jokey tone, the journalist asked if Messi would take Sergio Aguero with him to a possible meeting with the Obama family.

"Of course," he responded, "I'd take Kun everywhere!"
