Real Madrid's deal to bring Eden Hazard to the club could break the record for the most expensive transfer of all-time, ousting Philippe Coutinho from top spot. This is according to reports in the English media as no official fee has been confirmed by either club. Hazard will be presented to the media and fans on the 13th June.
According to BBC Sport and the Evening Standard, the total cost could rise to £150m - €168m in euros. Barça paid €120m for Coutinho, not including bonuses, whereas Madrid's fixed cost is £88m (€100m).
However it's with bonuses where the price goes up drastically. With Coutinho, €40m in variables were agreed. However there's up to £60m (€68m) when it comes to Hazard. Combined, it would take Hazard's transfer cost over what Barça paid for Coutinho.
The biggest surprise in England is the cost of the deal for a player who only had 12 months to run on his current deal.
