Real Madrid have one foot in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after beating Leganes 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
Madrid were under pressure going into the game having failed to win in either of their first two games of 2019, drawing with Villarreal and losing to Real Sociedad. On top of that, they were booted out of the cup by Leganes last season.
However, despite naming a much-changed side, Santiago Solari's side had far too much for Leganes in this first leg tie and will be strong favourites going into the second leg away form home.
Leganes had their chances in the first half but the game slipped away form them before the break when Gerard Gumbau gave away a penalty. Sergio Ramos converted from the spot, taking his tally to 100 career goals.
Los Blancos eased through the gears after the break. Lucas Vazquez added the second after a defensive mistake form the visitors was followed up by some unselfish play form Vinicius Jr.
The young Brazilian then went from provided to goal scorer as he made it 3-0, brilliant turning home a cross form inside the area in the 77th minute.
There was even time for a late debut for new recruit Brahim Diaz, who arrived form Manchester City this week, as Madrid chalked up their first win of the New Year.
