Rio Ferdinand could return to Manchester United. The former defender is in talks with vice president Ed Woodward over the possibility of taking up a sporting director role at the club.
According to the Daily Mail, the ex-England international's one of the candidates to fill what will be a newly created role at Old Trafford. There have already been several meetings with Woodward.
Ferdinand is currently working as an analyst on British television so is up to date with what is going on in the modern game. His profile is said to fit what the club are looking for. He also has experience in the business world, given he own's a clothing company and restaurants.
United have never had a sporting director but feel it's time to change their model. Ferdinand would work in partnership with first team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The two were teammates at the club between 2002 and 2007.
