Man City are preparing for the day that Pep Guardiola walks away, having offered Dutch coach Giovanni van Bronkhorst a role that lets him access all areas at the club, say the Mirror. The 44-year-old has spent a month working behind the scenes at the Etihad after being persuaded to abandon his sabbatical year he had planned after leaving Feyenoord at the end of last season by City's owners.
The English newspaper say that he will stay in Manchester if he can prove he fits well and is part of City's plan to be able to replace Pep when he leaves eventually. Guardiola has a contract until 2021. They say that he approves of Van Bronkhorst as a replacement. They knew each other at Barcelona when Van Bronkhorst arrived in 2003. Pep then left for Brescia and Al Ahli in Doha.
