Neymar has denied he raped a woman in Paris. The alleged victim made the complaint in Brazil.

The former Barca star is in Brazil now training with his national team to play in the Copa America.

Released police documents suggest that woman met Neymar on Instagram and he flew her to Paris. She claimed he was “apparently drunk” then he arrived and “became aggressive and through violence engaged in sexual intercourse against the will of the victim’.

“It is clear that it was a trap,” said Neymar’s father to Band TV.

"If public opinion is not cleared up, and if we can't show the truth rapidly, this will snowball. If we have to show Neymar's WhatsApps and the conversations with this girl, we will.”

The WhatsApps were later released along with various photos the victim had sent Neymar, many of them naked or scantily clad.

"I'm being accused of rape, it's a heavy word, a really strong accusation but it's what's happening at the moment," said Neymar. "It caught me by surprise, it's really bad and I'm surprised to hear it because whoever knows me and my intergrity, they know I would never do anything of this type.

"It was a trap and I ended up falling into it, but this serves as a lesson moving forward."
