Vicenzo Montella earned his first league win as Sevilla coach with a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Espanyol in Cornella.

Franco Vazquez struck in the 15th minute with Pablo Sarabia adding a second in the 34th and Muriel netting late on to see the visitors emerge triumphant and move provisionally fifth in the table, level on points with Real Madrid.

Espanyol tried to launch a second-half fightback but Leo Baptistao fluffed his lines with the goal gaping, one of the misses of the season, and Sergio Garcia fired narrowly wide moments later.

Espanyol grew tired after their exertions in midweek against Barcelona and Muriel took advantage cutting in from the left, beating the defence and then slotted home at the near post.
