Suarez injured his calf against Athletic Bilbao in the first week of the season but stepped up his recovery during the international break. He looked sharp and could have a role to play in Tuesday's Champions League game at Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona arrived on the back of a 2-2 draw against Osasuna while Valencia won 2-0 in their last league match against Mallorca. Following Saturday's result, Barcelona move fourth in La Liga, having garnered seven points from four matches, while Valencia sit 14th with four points after playing a total of four matches.

There was an impressive opening from Barcelona, thanks to a good early goal from Ansu Fati in the 2nd minute. Barcelona then scored again thanks to a goal from Frenkie de Jong after seven minutes to establish a 2-0 lead. Valencia pulled a goal back from Kevin Gameiro on 27 minutes.

Barça pulled clear after the break. Gerard Piqué scored after 51 minutes before Suarez's brace on his return to action. Maxi Gomez netted a late consolation for Valencia.

Barcelona will be playing against Granada away from home next week, while Valencia will face Leganés at home.
