Diego Simeone's side slipped 11 points back when they lost at Camp Nou last week but took advantage of Barça's draw with Huesca earlier in the day to close the gap again with six games left.
Antoine Griezmann and Jan Oblak were the stars of the show as the Rojiblanco left Celta -- who have improved in recent weeks -- in trouble at the bottom of the table.
Griezmann opened the scoring with a stunning free kick in the first half and Alvaro Morata wrapped up the points in the second half when he rounded the goalkeeper.
Even without Iago Aspas, Celta posed questions against what was a makeshift Atletico defence, but Oblak, like against Barça last week, was once again in stunning form.
