After Frenkie de Jong said he will stay at Ajax until the end of the season, PSG have started looking elsewhere for a central midfielder.
They are focusing on Allan, the Brazilian Napoli midfielder. Thomas Tuchel already expressed his like of the player to the board who has convinced him with the fine performance he put in against PSG in the Champions League group phase.
The main obstacle to the player's arrival is the 80 million euro price on his head. PSG think that is a lot for a 28 year old who arrived three years ago at the Italian club for 11.5m.
The alternative to the alternative...
Antero Henrique, the PSG sporting director, went to Amsterdam at the start of January. He went for De Jong but came back with another name on the agenda, Donny van de Beek.
If Allan does not work then he will try for the 21-year-old Dutchman, who is a more accessible option. Ajax are willing to negotiate for the player for 20m euros, a more acceptable number for a young player who is not too dissimilar to Adrien Rabiot, who is poised to leave the French club.
