The decision was taken after a meeting between the presidents of both clubs, Rodolfo D'Onofrio of River Plate and Boca Junior's Daniel Angelici, at CONMEBOL HQ in Luque (Paraguay) with the federations' president Alejandro Domínguez.

An exact date has not been arranged, nor has a venue, although the game will be played outside of Argentina.

The second leg (the first leg ended 2-2 at Boca) was called off on Saturday after Boca's bus was attacked, with several players receiving injuries via the broken glass and others feeling the affect of pepper spray.

Initially, the game was hastily rearranged for the sunday, but was again called off.

Boca, however, remain adamant that the trophy should be awarded to them and that River should face consequences for their supporters' actions.

As things stand, South America do not yet have a representative for this year's Club World Cup, which gets underway in the middle of December.
