The recent arrest of Michel Platini has created shockwaves across the world of football. This all stems from the decision to allow Qatar to host the World Cup in 2022. Platini, who was a legendary footballer, was released without charge after being interrogated by French police. However, the damage might have already been done.
According to 'TNT Sports', FIFA are open to moving the World Cup 2022 away from Qatar.
"There have already been secret meetings as they try to find an immediate substitute for Qatar," the sports programme insisted. We will now have to wait and see what Gianni Infantino decides to do after yet more controversy for the organisation. If the tournament is moved it would be a historic moment in football and could open up a new round of voting for the tournament. However, there isn't a lot of time to get such drastic changes into place.
