Every year Europe's big clubs are faced with the same problem: finding a centre-back who offers guarantees. This summer, it seems the man everyone will fight for is Clement Lenglet. The Sevilla defender is a Barcelona target.
However, the Catalan club aren't the only ones interested in him. According to France Football, Chelsea have been in touch with Lenlet's agents, too. They claim there have been talks between Marina Granovskaia, Roman Abramovich's right hand woman, and the French defender's people. In said meeting, Granovskaia enquired about the current situation at Sevilla. Chelsea have a genuine interest in pursuing a deal, the report adds, and could offer him a first-team spot.
The problem for Lenglet, though, is that the London-based club are currently shrouded in uncertainty. Antonio Conte's expected to leave his role as coach but there's been no confirmation. Former Napoli boss Sarri is tipped to replace him. But there has been no movement yet.
Chelsea aren't the only Premier League club chasing Lenglet, either. Manchester United, coached by Jose Mourinho, are also interested. Even Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, despite signing Virgil van Dijk in January, could make a move. But Barça seem best placed as things stand to sign the player, who has a 35 million euro release clause.
