Espanyol have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign midfielder Esteban Granero on a two-year deal, sources have told SPORT.
Granero, 30, will arrive in Barcelona on Monday to finalise the deal. Espanyol will not have to pay a transfer fee as Real Sociedad are allowing him to leave for free.
The former Real Madrid man does still have one year on his deal in San Sebastian, but his high salary and his lack of minutes under Eusebio Sacristan mean the club are happy for him to make the move.
Quique Sanchez Flores, the Espanyol coach, previously worked with Granero in the junior categories at Real Madrid and first tried to sign him for the Pericos last summer.
He was unsuccessful on that occasion but things have changed since then and Granero will arrive in Barcelona to get the minutes he's not had at Anoeta.
