Yerry Mina will leave Barcelona in the upcoming weeks. Following the end of last season's double winning campaign, Ernesto Valverde informed the players who he wouldn't need for the 2018/19 season. One of those people was Yerry Mina.

The Colombian centre back arrived from Palmeiras for €11.8m but failed to convinced Valverde or the rest of the training staff in his six months at the club. They valued his aerial ability but also his struggles with the ball at his feet which is a fundamental assest for a Barcelona defender.

increased value

Another reason to sell Mina is the arrival of Clement Lenglet, who will complete the quartet of centre backs at the club alongside Pique, Umtiti and Vermaelen. Basically, there isn't room for him.

Initially Barcelona were open to loaning Mina out for a season and reevaluating his role in the squad when he returned. However his performances at the World Cup have changed those plans.

His fantastic World Cup campaign, where he scored three goals for Colombia and formed a solid partnership with Davinson Sanchez, has opened the market up for Mina to be sold for a high price. In particular, his aerial ability is something which attracts a lot of interest from English clubs.

three offers

Unexpectedly, Barcelona find themselves with three offers from the Premier League on the table. West Ham, Leicester City and Everton have all made bids in excess of €30m for the defender. It's a clear now or never situation. The club is willing to accept a €20m profit on a player who has only been at the Camp Nou for six months.

Although Mina won't return to training with Barcelona until he's finished his holidays, specifically the 4th August, information from Brazil suggests that the Colombian really wants to play for Barcelona on their United States tour.

For this reason it's very probable that Mina will travel to the US directly from Colombia and it'll be on North American soil where he completes his move away.

It appears as if Everton are best placed to sign Mina and his future almost certainly will be in the Premier League.
