Barcelona and Manchester City are the two teams best placed to sign Benfica starlet Joao Felix. According to the Portuguese journalist Rui Pedro Braz, speaking on the channel TVi24, Barça and City are leading the chase for the 19-year-old, but it's the Premier League champions who are the favourites. Braz says he could even be playing under Pep Guardiola next season.
Joao Félix, considered the new Cristiano Ronaldo in his homeland, has a contract with Benfica until 2023 and his release clause at the moment is 120 million euros. However, Benfica hopes to increase the clause and delay a possible sale as they consider him a key part of their project.
However, Barça and City are not the only clubs keen on the latest tar to emerge in European football. Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are also in the race, among others.
