Barcelona have set their sights on another Ajax player. As well as wanting Frankie De Jong, they also would like to sign his team-mate Matthijs de Ligt. According to TV3, “Barcelona are more interested in De Ligt than in De Jong. He’s one of the first on the list for next season.”
De Ligt is an 18-year-old centre back, already a fixture in the Dutch national team. In a recent interview with Goal.com, Ajax general director Edwin van der Sar, said that “he’s great with both feet, has a good variety of passes, is strong in the air, scores goals and is a true leader of the defence at 18. He arrived in the first team last year and never looked back.”
The player has a contract at Ajax until June 30, 2021 with the option to extend it by a year.
