In his press conference Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Neymar won't be involved in their upcoming match whilst his future remains unresolved.
"Neymar is improving every day and is capable of working with the team. He's completed all of the training sessions, showing the right quality and intensity. But the situation between him and the club is the same. The club's position is clear. If his situation hasn't been resolved, he can't play. If his situation is resolved before tomorrow, he'll play. If not, he won't."
Tuchel admits the whole saga has impacted his squad. "Of course the situation influences the team but everyone knows what it is. Players like Neymar always have interest in them if he's here or elsewhere. You get used to these types of situations. It's the same each season with the biggest players. We have to adapt but it's clear this (situation) isn't ideal for the team."
The coach is desperate to add Neymar's quality to the team but he respects the club's stance of leaving Neymar on the sidelines until a decision is made over his future.
One of Neymar's teammates, Marco Verratti, also spoke about the situation. "I hope Neymar stays with us but I don't want to put pressure on him. Players like him are difference-makers in the big games. It's an issue between him and the club. On the 2nd September, we'll know if he's staying with us or not."
