It's shaping up to be another big transfer window for FC Barcelona following the devastating loss to Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals. Jasper Cillessen has asked to leave after agreeing personal terms with Benfica despite the two clubs being a way a part in terms of the fee. However it seems certain that the Dutch stopper will move on this summer and, as such, Barça will need to search for a replacement. The two main candidates at the moment are Koen Caastels (Wolsfburg) and Yann Sommer (Borussia Monchengladbach).
Barça are extremely satisfied with Cillessen's performances for the club but understand the player's need to play more often. The Dutch international has never caused a problem inside the dressing and feels confident the club will allow him to leave. But only once a team matches his €20m asking price.
In Portugal they appear confident of Cillessen coming in and say a transfer is "imminent". An agreement between the player and Benfica is done but the two clubs are still haggling over the price. Barça want more than the €12m + add-ons that is on the table. This Saturday will probably be Cillessen's last for Barcelona. He has offers from elsewhere but is keen to join Benfica.
Barça are searching the market for options to cover the loss of Cillessen. The idea is to find an experience goalkeeper as opposed to a younger prospect and the two names on the table are Sommer and Casteels. Both are likely to accept a secondary role behind number one ter Stegen too.
Casteels was actually lined up to replace Cillessen last summer before both deals fell through. However, for around the same fee of between €10m-12m, the option of Sommer is another one which interests the club. He's already said he would be willing to make the switch should an offer be forthcoming.
