Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong will not sign for Barcelona this summer, according to a report on RAC1 on Tuesday.
The Dutch club have stood firm and refused to sell De Jong, despite the fact the player wanted to move now, rather than wait a year.
However, RAC1 add that talks haven't completely broken down regarding a move at a later date. Ajax's refusal to sell has seen Barça back off for now but talks could reopen ahead of next summer, if Barça remain interested.
Remember that Ajax's tough stance comes after the player had given the OK to an operation this summer after various meetings.
Barça, then, must decide whether they try and twist Ajax's arm this summer or if they wait a year, by which time De Jong will be 21.
