Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has spoken for the first time about Adrien Rabiot's situation following his side's lost to Bayern Munich.
Tuchel has not previously addressed Rabiot's future with Barcelona targetting the French midfielder.
But after making him captain in the International Champions Cup defeat to Bayern, he responded to questions about Rabiot.
"You can see the potential Adrien has," he said. "There's still room to grow. I love him as a player, I love working for him and his full potential is still to be seen.
"In relation to his contract situation, he's the one who has the last word. Everything depends on him.
"He must decide if he continued with us [his terms expire in 2019], backs out style and out way or playing... or if he looks for a new challenge."
Erica Abidal and Pep Segura were in Paris last week as Barça look into the possibility of doing a deal for Rabiot, who was left out of France's World Cup squad this summer.
