When everything seemed to suggest that Marc Cucurella would stay at Barça B, it changed quickly on Friday morning. That is when the rumour of a move to Eibar first appeared. Throughout the day that rumour gained more traction and it was finally made official this evening.
Barcelona and Eibar have agreed terms on a deal for Cucurella which will see the player spend the season on loan at the LaLiga club. Eibar will cover his wages and retain an option to make the deal permanent in the summer should they so wish.
Cucurella was an ever-present for Barça B in the last two seasons, playing a total of 54 matches. However the progression of Juan Miranda now complicates his position in the side. 'Cucu' was aware that he'd need to share that left back role with Miranda but, when a LaLiga side made their interest in him known, it was an easy decision to make.
Now Juan Miranda will be a certain starter for the B side and the youngster has a great chance of making the first team squad should Jordi Alba pick up an injury or be suspended.
