Japanese club Kashima Antlers have confirmed this Friday that they've accepted a deal which will see Hiroki Abe join FC Barcelona. The 20-year-old will need to fly out to Spain and pass a medical before signing his new contract.
Although Abe plays as a striker for Kashima Antlers, he plays a little further back for the national team. He joined Kashima in 2017 and was named the best young player in 2018. Abe admitted it was a "difficult" decision to leave Kashima but the Japanese league is only at its halfway stage.
"But I have a strong wish to try new challenges at FC Barcelona," Abe said ahead of his move to La Masia.
Abe recently made his full international debut against Chile in the Copa America.
