It's official: El FC Barcelona have announced the signing of Ludovit Reis from FC Groningen this Thursday. The 18-year-old midfielder will join in a €3.25m deal and be part of Barça B next season. However he will train alongside the first team after signing a three-year contract with a €100m buyout clause.
Reis, who passed his medical on Wednesday, will turn 19 on the 1st June. The Dutch midfielder had been at Groningen for two seasons, playing a total of 50 times. He holds a Dutch passport despite his parents being from Slovakia.
"It's a dream come true for me. I'm very happy. I still can't believe it. I dreamt about this every night when I played football with my friends. I'm coming here to learn from the other players, who are the best in the world," he told Barça TV. "My style is as a defensive pivot but I could play further forward as an interior. My objective is to play for the first team and learn from Busquets and the other great players," he added.
