Barcelona face competition to land the services of Adrien Rabiot, Paris Saint-Germain's French midfielder who has been frozen out of first team duty due to refusing to renew his contract, with other big European clubs in the race for the player.

The latest to join the list of hopefuls is Liverpool, who have taken advantage of Rabiot's 'no' to Tottenham to make their move, according to The Sun.

Rabiot, who will not remain at PSG beyond the end of the season, could yet leave the club this month if the French club receive an acceptable offer. The French international prefers Liverpool's offer to any other which has arrived from England so far, to the point that he will not accept any other offer until he's studied theirs properly.

In theory, Jurgen Klopp's side don't urgently need a player of Rabiot's profile, but value his signing as a good market opportunity at a reasonable price this month -- or for free in the summer.

Meanwhile, Barça are still waiting for news after closing the signing of Frenkie de Jong for next season. They're hoping Rabiot will commit, although it's a tough time for the midfielder following the recent death of his father.
