Lionel Messi has been awarded UEFA's Best Goal of the Season for the 2015/16 campaign after a public vote.
The Argentinian was a clear winner (34 per cent ) ahead of Ricardinho (13 per cent) and Xherdan Shaqiri (11 per cent) in second and third, respectively, after beating his rivals with his delightful chipped goal against Roma in the Champions League group stages.
Messi's goal against Roma showcased all that is best of the "MSN" trio. Neymar's swift dribbling allowing the Brazilian to pick out Messi who layed the ball off to Luis Suarez to chip back into the path of 'La Pulga' to delicately lift over the helpless Wojciech Szczesny to score Barça's second goal in their 6-1 romp over the Giallarossi.
Also within the list of candidates was Barça youth team player Carles Alena, but his goal against Roma in the UEFA Youth League garnering only one per cent of the vote.
In addition, the best Save of the Season will be announced during the UEFA Gala with neither Marc-Andre ter Stegen or former Barça goalkeeper Claudio Bravo nominated for the award.
The Best Player in Europe will also be awarded to either Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Antoine Griezmann - most notably, no Blaugrana players made the final three.
