Barcelona believe that Ivan Rakitic will leave this summer. The squad is overbooked in midfield and the Croatian is no longer indispensable in Ernesto Valverde's system. Rakitic has two years on his deal and the club will not renew his contract, so it's the ideal moment to sell him in search of around 50 million euros. The possible destinations are Manchester United and Inter Milan.

Rakitic has expressed his desire to stay but also is clear what the situation is. Valverde commented that he must win his place in the team and he no longer considers him untransferable. In addition, he has the chance to sign one last big contract. Everyone is looking for the best solution and awaiting movements. There have been talks, but United and Inter's interest has not yet gone to the next level.

The coming days are key for the English market, with the transfer window closing next week there. United are seriously considering selling Paul Pogba to Real Madrid for more than 150 million euros and want to invest that money on top level midfielders. One of them is Rakitic. The English club contacted Barça weeks ago to find out about his situation, but haven't made an offer.

Rakitic would prefer to go to Inter, although here the things are more complicated. Inter's Chinese owners are always linked and moving for big signings, but they've never put the money on the table and Barça feel they can't rely on them. The possibility of United moving for him could advance negotiations. The only thing Barça are clear on is that they will not accept less than 50 million euros.

Barça were close to selling Rakitic last summer. The Blaugrana had given the green light to PSG's 90 million offer, but the player decided to stay at the last moment. He believed his loyalty would be rewarded with a new deal, but that has not been the case.
