Barcelona get back into action against Girona on Saturday at 8.45pm. The team trained on Thursday as they prepare for the clash, with B-teamer Carles Alena joining the squad.

However Gerard Pique was not able to take part in the session with his team-mates and instead worked alone, trying to recover from his knee problems that have plagued him since the draw with Espanyol in La Liga.

Pique's right knee is hurt and he wants to arrive at the end of the season in top condition, so he can perform in the crucial matches. Pique played through pain against Valencia, Eibar and Chelsea, sitting out the Getafe match.

Barcelona will train on Friday and then Valverde will speak to the media.
