Ajax's Frenkie de Jong has already said he would like to play for Barcelona one day and in an interview with the Dutch club's television channel he revealed he'd love to play alongside Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.
De Jong was a Barça target this summer but the La Liga champions had two bids turned down and they will have to return next year if they want to finally land the midfielder-cum-defender.
"If you end up at a superior club, you will play with world class players all over the pitch," De Jong said. "But for me, honestly, I would like to play with Messi one day."
Another show of devotion and admiration from De Jong towards Messi, who wasn't on target as Barça beat Real Sociedad 2-1 on Saturday at Anoeta.
For now, though, De Jong remains an Ajax player, although there are plenty of clubs interested in signing him in the future.
