Neymar's move to Real Madrid is advancing forward thanks to the multi-million offer from Florentino Perez. It might be an offer which sees Barça's hopes of landing him fade, not aided by the fact PSG would rather deal with anyone but Barça.
Florentino has offered Neymar €40m per season, which is actually more than the eye-watering wage he currently earns at PSG. If he accepts that offer it would make him the second highest-earning player in football, just behind Lionel Messi. It would be a five-year dealing, keeping him at Madrid until the 2023/24 season.
A TENSE WAIT
Neymar, despite the riches on offer, is still yet to sign the deal. He would prefer to wait and see if Barça can reach an agreement with PSG so he could rejoin his friends Luis Suarez and Messi at the Camp Nou.
Florentino Perez is said to be concerned at Neymar's indecision over signing such an incredible contract. The reason for that is simple: he'd prefer to sign for Barça.
The biggest problem facing Josep Maria Bartomeu is that Neymar's desire to leave is more important than who he signs for. The Brazilian doesn't want to spend a third season in Paris and if one of his two options to leave falls away, he'll have no hesitation in accepting the other.
The only two realistic options for Neymar are Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Real Madrid, for their part, have a much better relationship with PSG and can offer more money - €100m - plus a variety of players they wouldn't mind losing: Gareth Bale, Keylor Navas, Mariano and James. However, it's believed that PSG would rather have Modric but the Croatian doesn't want to move.
Barça's best hopes of landing the forward is if he publicly admits he wants to join them - and only them. Neymar won't do that though.
