Exclusive: What Barcelona players said on the plane home from PSG beating

First it was Sergio Busquets and then Andres Iniesta who put Luis Enrique's tactics under the spotlight after PSG's 4-0 win over Barcelona in Paris.

The two captains offered worried messages after the game which were transparent, showing the sense of worry and resignation that the Barcelona dressing room has been feeling for a few weeks.

Both lamented the errors in planning for the PSG game which cost the team greatly. These comments did not fall on deaf ears, with the coaching staff listening and aware the situation could end up catching alight if a remedy is not found.

Segio Busquets and Andres Iniesta's comments were just the tip of the iceberg of a series of reflections that the heavyweights of the team made during the trip back from Paris to Barcelona.

There were comments that SPORT have been informed of that reflect the state of the group's morale, a group starting to have doubts and a group that needs desperately to change tack.

"We are getting further from the idea that made us great," was one of the comments from the dressing room.

"We are well organised with the ball, without it everything is a lot trickier," said another player, conscious that the dependency on the trident has reduced the importance of the midfield - implying that Barcelona have the ball a lot less.

In any case it should not be forgotten that the treble was won with a midfield formed of Busquets, Iniesta and Rakitic, whith Xavi Hernandez also helpful that season.

Despite the downbeat attitude no player wanted to use lack of intensity as an excuse "that's for mediocre teams", although one player did say "in the Champions League you have to be very intene and maybe we lacked some soul in some moments"

Soul, or pride enough to at least score a goal that would have given some life to a tie which seems decided by Unai Emery's team.

The problem is that the solutions are difficult to see in the short-term because the squad is set and can't be changed much. In any case we will have to see what happens over the coming weeks.

It would be deceptive to say that there is optimism, but they are not overwhelmed either. Only the play and the results will affect the destiny of the team.
