Ajax's captain Matthijs De Ligt has rejected a huge offer from Manchester United. The in-demand defender, who is also wanted by FC Barcelona, has rejected a €70m move to the fallen English giants.
According to 'The Star', United were desperate to sign the young defender as they look to overhaul their underperforming squad. However they were met with a firm 'no' as the Dutch star wants to play in the Champions League.
"Matthijs will become the best defender in the world," is what the source told them. "He can sign for any side he wants but he doesn't have any interest in signing for Manchester United."
Barça are still hopeful or reuniting de Ligt with de Jong at the Camp Nou next season.
