Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told The Press Association that the club are already renewing the squad with an eye on the future. They are doing so by signing young players with huge potential.
Despite the fact Bartomeu's put huge faith in French forward Antoine Griezmann this season, as well as the emergence of teenage star Ansu Fati, the Barça chief wanted to highlight the quality of the young Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
"De Jong is going to establish an era of his own at Barcelona," Bartomeu said of the former Ajax man, who is already a fans' favourite at Camp Nou.
Bartomeu feels that De Jong is set to be one of the world's greatest midfielders and that his style fits in perfectly with what is required at the Catalan club.
