Former FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol spoke ahead of his beloved side's clash with Chelsea on Wednesday night. Speaking to The Sun, Puyol gave his key points for the clash.
Far from focusing on Willian or Eden Hazard, he said the Blaugrana "can't just be alert to defending against one player" because Chelsea "have great forwards, play in an organised way and have clear ideas over how they want to play". They take advantage of "fast and very dangerous" attacks.
Puyol said "the difference between 2012 and this is that we lost 1-0 in London and we had to win. We came out to attack and went 2-0 up but Ramires made it 2-1. We did everything possible to score another goal but Fernando (Torres) scored and we were out."
"Chelsea play in a similar way, very strong in defence and looking for counter-attacks."
"For me, Hazard is their besr player. But he's not at the level of Messi. We're talking about an incredible player who hasn't just shown it over a season but at the top level over 10 years. Messi's the best player in the history of football."
It's "difficult" to compare Hazard to Messi, but Eden "is a fantastic player who makes the difference and still has a lot of time to grow."
Pedro "knows Camp Nou very well and is a player who works very hard", Willian "played very well at Stamford Bridge" and "Alvaro Morata is a great player, he has had problems with his back but he's powerful and can do damage to Barca."
