Yerry Mina will become a Barcelona player in the coming hours. The club have reached a deal with Palmeiras for the defender for 11.5 million euros and he will soon arrive in the Catalan capital. Mina will be the fourth centre-back in the squad and replace Javier Mascherano, who is heading to China.
Barcelona had an option to sign him next summer for nine million euros and had agreed to do so but they decided to bring him in earlier and paid 2.5m euros more to do so. Mina will arrive at Barcelona on Tuesday and could be presented on Wednesday if all the documentation is signed off.
The Colombian will join for four and a half seasons and there is hope that he will evolve in the months ahead, adapting to the Spanish league. If not he will be loaned out in the summer to a European side so he can keep growing.
