With a week to go until the Clasico at the Bernabeu, Ernesto Valverde decided to not start Sergio Busquets against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
The midfielder has been booked four times this season and will have to serve a one-game suspension when he is next cautioned.
In his place, Valverde has decided to play Ivan Rakitic as the deepest midfielder, as he did in the Champions League against Sporting Lisbon.
Meanwhile, there's a return for Andres Iniesta, who gets some vital minutes before the trip to Real Madrid next Saturday.
Iniesta has missed the last two games with a minor calf problem, but trained throughout the week and was fit to start against Depor.
