Partido de la sexta jornada de la fase de grupos de la Champions League, disputado en el Camp Nou ante 69.961 espectadores.
Lucas Moura’s 85th minute strike earned Tottenham a draw at Barcelona which took them to the Champions League last 16, with only Ousmane Dembele and Jasper Cillessen keeping the hosts afloat.
Ernesto Valverde made several changes and started with Lionel Messi on the bench.
Dembele scored a brilliant solo goal in the seventh minute to put the Catalans ahead, winning the ball back, charging through Tottenham’s half and drilling past Hugo Lloris after turning Harry Winks.
The Frenchman, in trouble on Sunday after turning up to training two hours late, put in a performance to ease worries about him and vindicate himself.
At the other end, Barca’s best player was Jasper Cillessen, who kept Spurs at bay with a string of sublime saves.
One to deny Son Heung-Min, one to keep out Christian Eriksen’s placed effort and the best of the lot to somehow yank Moura’s header off the line and out.
However Tottenham’s second half pressure told and Moura put the finishing touch on Harry Kane’s cross to equalise.
With Inter Milan drawing 1-1 against PSV Eindhoven, it was enough to send Spurs through in second place on head-to-head away goals.
And the draw also wasn’t the worst thing for Barca either, having rested most of their first team - Messi came on for a second-half cameo - and preserved their record of unbeaten matches at home in the competition.
They are up to 29 games now, the joint-best of all time with Bayern Munich.
