As is usual in recent years, Barcelona keep a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen and their emerging youth players. In the past, they have closely followed Bender and Wendell; now they have turned their attention to Kai Havertz.

Havertz, 19, became an important player last year as he earned a place in the side at the age of 18. He laid on nine assists in the Bundesliga and scored three goals. This season he's got better, scoring six goals and creating six more so far.

According to Sport Bild, the young midfielder is valued at 55 million euros and, as well as Barcelona, is also attracting interest from Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG. In short, all of Europe's big sides have an eye on Havertz, who has a contract until 2022.

There's no release clause in his deal, so Leverkusen would have to accept an offer and their starting point for bids is thought to be 80 million euros.

The cited media claim Havertz could look for an exit next summer if Bayer don't qualify for Europe, which seems unlikely given they're currently 11th in the Bundesliga, although they're only five points off the European places.
