Barça are finalising Andre Gomes' permanent move to Everton. The deal has moved forward in recent days after the midfielder's representatives flew out to Barcelona in order to smooth out the smaller details of a transfer.
The asking price is set at €30m and Everton are trying to bring that down a little bit. Although other English sides have contacted the Spanish club and could make a last-ditch attempt to sign the midfielder, Gomes only wants to play for Everton.
Due to this everything suggests the midfielder will move on sooner rather than later. €30m will come in handy as Barça look to improve their squad on the quest to win another Champions League title.
Two seasons ago they paid Valencia €35m for the cultured midfielder and will now only lose €5m. Not bad for a player who barely showed glimpses of his quality whilst at the Camp Nou.
Valverde is happy to see Gomes move on after his struggles to make it work at Barcelona. With Frenkie de Jong already wrapped up, there's even less need to retain players who simply aren't good enough for the first team. An announcement could come in the next few days.
