Palmeiras need to make a major sale and, for this reason, the Brazilian champions have put some of their youngster starlets up for sale. With the priority being to sign established stars, those promising youngsters are desperate for a chance elsewhere so they're able to continue their development with playing time.
One of the biggest names they are willing to listen to offers for is Luan Cándido. He's a left back, only 18 years of age, is 1.84m tall and is also comfortable slotting into midfield.
He was recently involved in the South American U20 tournament where he ended up being the first choice full back. He played alongside Emerson, also signed by Barça but currently on loan at Real Betis.
Luan Cándido is one of the brightest promises to emerge from Palmeiras' academy. His outstanding progress has seen scouts from Barcelona, Manchester City - who might have first option on him due to previously signing Gabriel Jesus from the club -,Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyon, amongst others.
Barça are keeping tabs on the situation. Palmeiras' director of football, Alexandre Mattos, has been in Barcelona this week as he travels around Europe. Back in Brazil, it's sparked rumours of a potential meeting about the young left back's situation but those claims have been denied by both sides.
However Palmeiras do hope that their director will return after securing the sale of at least one of their budding promises.
Luan Candido would be a signing with one eye on the future. If negotiations were to take place the youngster would be expected to join up with Barça B rather than the senior squad due to the fact he'd occupy a non-EU spot. He could also be loaned out to another side in Europe.
However Luan Candido isn't the only left back Barcelona B are looking at ahead of the summer transfer window.
