Barcelona B beat Sporting Gijon 2-1 on Friday with a special supporter in attendance: Ernesto Valverde. The first team coach was at the Mini Estadi with his No.2 Jon Aspiazu and Joan Barbará.
Carles Alena and Jose Arnaiz scored the goal in the impressive win for Gerard Lopez's side.
On Valverde's presence, Lopez said: "I found out that Valverde was coming to watch us and I was excited. It's appreciated. It's the first time the first team coach has come to see us in two-and-a-half years."
As well as praise for Valverde, the message is also a criticism of Luis Enrique, who didn't go to watch the B team during when Lopez and him were both at the club.
Lopez also confirmed that David Costas is also with the first team until further notice due to the injuries to Mascherano and Umtiti.
