Arthur, victim of a senseless 22,000km round trip

The Brazilian midfielder has been called up to play two friendlies in Singapore

Nothing justifies that at the start of the European season the CBF has arranged two friendlies, against Senegal and Nigeria, which will give the coach Tite no moe information, in Singapore.

And Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo is gong there, a 22,000 kilometre round trip, to play for his country.

Tite and his fitness coach Fabio Mahseredjian have called Singapore “a great centre of world football” but there is no doubt that these matches in Asia with the European and South American seasons underway, are a waste of time.

Even the Brazilian press have complained about them.

Tite has called up eight players local to the country - goalkeepers Weverton (Palmeiras), Santos (Ath. Paranaense), full backs Dani Alves (Sao Paulo), Marcinho (Botafogo), centre-back Rodrigo Caio (Flamengo), midfielder Matheus Henrique (Gremio) and strikers Everton (Gremio) and Gabigol (Flamengo).

It is 30 degrees there with a humidity of around 80 percent, and the trips will be physically demanding.
