According to the website Goal, Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement with Joel Lopez, the 15-year-old left-back who plays for Barcelona's U16 side as part of La Masia.
Lopez has been at Barça since he was seven years old but recently told the club he would not sign a new deal and everything suggests he will move to the Premier League.
Raul Sanllehi, who left Barça for Arsenal earlier this season to become the London club's director of football operations, has had a lot to do with the deal.
Goal also claim that Liverpool were in the running but Sanllehi's involvement tipped the scales in Arsenal's favour.
Lopez's case draws parallels with Hector Bellerin, the right-back who left Barça for Arsenal at 16 and has gone on to become an important player at the Emirates thanks to the confidence shown in him by Arsene Wenger.
