After announcing Ernesto Valverde's contract extension, the next person to pass through president Josep Maria Bartomeu's office should be defender Jordi Alba, who's waiting for a new deal. Alba's contract situation is the next issue Bartomeu needs to resolve. Given what the president has said, it won't be long now.

Contact continues without an agreement between the club and the left-back's agents, but Bartomeu announced recently that his desire is for Alba to sign a new contract for five years. Valverde's renewed ahead of the away games against Lyon (Champions League), Sevilla (La Liga), Real Madrid (Copa del Rey) and Real Madrid (La Liga) again.

Next up, the club want Alba's deal done. "I would like it to be done before the end of the tie against Lyon in the Champions League, during these dates we could announce his renewal," Bartomeu has said.

The player's posture, however, does not seem the same. Alba is waiting for a gesture from the club to sit down and close his new contract at Camp Nou.
